This workshop for the NAWRS Research Academy invites NAWRS attendees to a learning session with the TANF Data Collaborative (TDC). One of the TDC partners, Julia Lane from NYU, will do a demo based on a forthcoming training program - the Applied Data Analytics program - which has already been successfully delivered to over 300 participants from over 100 agencies across the country. The program trains participants in how to use TANF and workforce data to describe and measure the employment outcomes of TANF recipients.

In this workshop, you will work through an example project to produce an interactive Workforce Dashboard, and learn about the Jupyter notebooks that serve as the "recipe books" to create custom dashboards and other analytics. The demonstration shows how participants can use the dashboard to create standardized measures of earnings and employment outcomes of state workers by county and over time, visualize them and produce information that can be used for decision-making.

In the NAWRS session, we will get your feedback on the design and structure of the course. During the workshop, we will ask attendees' feedback and input on key skills that should be the primary focus in the Fall training program, what measures would be most relevant to see for a similar TANF dashboard, and ideas for future research and training programs. Join us at NAWRS on July 28-31, 2019!
